I like untangling numbers. I work as a Research Analyst at the University of Chicago Crime and Education Labs, with an Affiliated Researcher role at the Consortium on School Research. My projects focus on the econometrics of program evaluation. How do we use data from an RCT when the availability of outcome data is tied to treatment assignment? How do we build frameworks to track student learning when they never take the same test twice? I like tricky questions and big coding challenges.
I've tutored with students from ages 6 to 32, from kindergarteners to post-graduates. I have the most experience working with middle schoolers - I used to be the 5th-8th grade Math teacher at the St. Bartholomew School in Portage Park - but I've found that there's much more difference within grade/age cohorts than between them. I don't always have capacity to take on new clients, but if you're interested in tutoring for yourself, your study group, or your child, send me an email - I love helping people approach math with the confidence to which they're entitled as human beings.
